Voluntary Sector Forum - Bath & North East Somerset
This Forum has been brought together by funding received from the
ChangeUp programme and delivered through West of England
Consortium member organisations. ChangeUp is a government
initiative, managed by Capacitybuilders, to strengthen the
voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors by encouraging
and enabling the delivery of effective infrastructure services.
What is the Voluntary Sector Forum?
The Voluntary Sector Forum is the formally
structured body and meeting which allows all Voluntary and Community
Sector/Third Sector Groups delivering services within / to Bath and
North East Somerset to come together to address issues affecting the
sector. It is the formal voting body for the sector.
Why Do We Need a Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF)?
There is an ongoing need to identify issues which affect all
voluntary and community groups. We can best do this by talking to
one another, developing a strong, clear, united voice and deciding
how to effectively take issues forward. The Voluntary Sector Forum
is one way we can do this. It can also offer a platform for
statutory organisations to come and talk to us.
Relationship of Voluntary Sector Forum to other Networks /Fora
There are many partnership groups, networks and fora across Bath &
North East Somerset, but the Voluntary Sector Forum is the single
Forum to which every Voluntary and Community Sector/Third Sector
group can belong. All Voluntary and Community Groups are invited and
encouraged to attend VSF meetings and to formally become members of
the Voluntary Sector Forum. To join the Voluntary Sector Forum
contact Meryl Hecquet on 01225 330090 or

Previous Work Resulting from the VSF
Until the end of June 2009 the Voluntary Sector Forum had a working
executive called the Voluntary Sector Steering Group. This group
formally represented the sector on the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)
and in relation to the Local Area Agreement (LAA). However, the
future of the executive is currently uncertain due to funding. For
work this group undertook see below:
