Cancellation - Health and Wellbeing Network meeting Wednesday 21 April at Fry Club in Keynsham. When a general election is called the NHS is asked to not undertake engagement activities during the election period. This is to prevent policy and service issues being used for political campaigning. The Care Forum apologies for any disappointment this may cause.

 

The next Chew Valley Interagency Forum Meeting will be held on Wednesday 21st April, 12.00-2.00pm, in the The Millennium Hall, Chew Magna. All welcome.
 

Staff Contracts and Handbooks - Free event - Wednesday 28 April, 2-5pm (1.30pm registration), Barton Hill Settlement, Bristol, BS5 0AX
What's the difference in status between an employee, a worker and a consultant - what about volunteers? Understand the documents you need in place at work, with this whistle-stop tour of staff contracts, agreements and handbooks. HR consultants Cornhill HR will deliver this half-day seminar, which will outline the key features of staff contracts and agreements - and what they should and should not include.
The morning will cover:
Staff contracts and agreements: when to use them and what the law says
The main kinds of contracts/agreements - and their essential features
The place of staff handbooks in relation to other employment documents.
The session will also give you opportunity to ask questions and apply your learning.

NI7 Recognises Importance of Voluntary Sector – National Indicator 7 (NI7) was chosen as one of the “headline” indicators in B&NES in recognition of the important role the voluntary sector (or “Third Sector”) plays in creating strong, active and empowered communities. In particular, “a vibrant, diverse and independent third sector is a vital part of a fair and enterprising society. A free half-day event designed to help Village Hall Committees, Parish Clerks, Community Transport Groups as well as representatives of organisations who offer help and advice to groups and individuals -and anyone else mainly living and working in rural Bath & North East Somerset. B&NES Sport & Active Leisure: Sport Unlimited Funding - for activities for young people aged 5 – 19 that will take place between Sept 2010 – Dec 2010 (terms 1 & 2).  The closing date for applications is Friday 11th June 2010. ‘Making Change Work!’ - Thursday 17 June in Weston-super-Mare. Making changes to our organisations is an inevitable part of management in today’s difficult economy. Often though, despite the best of intentions, the planned changes  flounder and fall by the wayside! Is there a way of managing and leading change to make it more effective and less painful for those involved? This workshop is designed to support individuals or teams, who are responsible for delivering organisational change. Delegates are encouraged to bring an actual ‘change’ issue from their workplace for discussion. You will be able to share concerns, discuss problems and pitfalls and you will have the opportunity to go through the process step by step and create a Change Plan during the day. Two Tunnels Volunteer Group - Thursday 22 April at 6.30pm Sustrans are holding a meeting in the Percy Community Centre, New King Street, Bath as the initial stage of setting up a group of volunteers to look after and care for the path once it's complete. The meeting should last about 2 hours and will include:
