You Should be Hearing from us Soon - we are updating our database and making sure everyone knows of the support & services we can offer your group. See our new Support & Services brochure. This brochure can also be picked up from Bath Central Library. We have been very lucky to recruit a volunteer to help us with this update. Some of you may already know Janet Cowland who has been active in the Voluntary & Community sector in B&NES for many years. Janet is helping us on Tuesdays and is contacting everyone to make sure that all the contact information we hold is correct. If we miss you we will try again but, in the meantime if you have changed your phone number or preferred contact for your organisation do let us know. Contact sue@developecs.org.uk

Important Information from B&NES People Services for all Managing or Carrying out Recruitment checks on Staff Working with Children and Vulnerable Adults.

From today the CRB will start to accept the new style CRB application form for processing.  This means that you can start to send completed new style CRB forms into B&NES People Services for countersignatory.  Please be aware, however, that the CRB will not start processing the new style forms until 26th July and then in the order in which they have been received.  As a result a considerable delay in the receipt of Disclosure Certificates for the next 4-8 weeks is anticipated.  View the CRB E-Guide which can be found here CRB Application e-guide

Two guides have been produced by B&NES People Services, one for the Applicant and one for the ID Checker on how to complete the new form.  Please also see the CRB Continuation Sheet as additional information may only be submitted on this form.

B&NES Council have also issued a Briefing to Umbrella Organisations (2 June). - to advise you of the latest information they have in respect of the delay of the implementation of ISA. This briefing includes the following information regarding the new forms 'People Services have been allocated a set provision of new forms for umbrella customers that regularly process large numbers of CRBs in a year. These will be distributed shortly – please be aware that you will only receive a small number of forms and that further forms cannot be supplied immediately. Those who process less frequently will receive forms after 26 July when we are able to order further stock. So that we can protect supplies, we would also ask umbrella organisations to consider delaying any current 3 yearly CRB re-checks until October/November. The normal process of re-checks must resume at that point'. Download the whole briefing

Dorothy House is an umbrella body for CRBs. The charge is £8.50 plus VAT, regardless of whether the CRB is for staff or volunteers because they have to cover costs, postage etc. Clearly there is no charge made by the CRB itself for volunteers. If anyone wants to know more please contact Sue Kirkwood at Dorothy House (01225 722988).
