Community Payback - essentially the replacement for Community Service. Courts are given the power to sentence offenders of certain crimes to undertake between 40 and 600 hours of Community Payback. This work is unpaid and demanding work that is aimed at giving something to local communities. All offenders will need to meet certain criteria before they are assigned to specific tasks. An offender’s criminal and personal history are taken into account and any that do not meet the criteria required to work in the community will work under close supervision within Probation Service managed workshops.

  • Is there an eyesore in your local community that you would like to see cleaned up?
  • Is there a local hall or community centre in need of redecorating?

Community Payback lets you suggest the type of work carried out by offenders sentenced to Unpaid Work. All Probation Areas welcome suggestions from their local community. To contact your local area go to http://www.communitypayback.com/probation-areas/
