ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY

Take a Stand - this scheme, run by Life Cycle UK in Partnership with local authorities offers free cycle parking stands to voluntary sector groups, small businesses, churches, schools and surgeries in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Envolve and GWE Business West offer monthly specialist Environmental Advice Clinics - Businesses in Bath can get practical help in reducing rising energy and waste bills, guidance on relevant legislation and support in reducing their environmental impact thanks to Envolve and GWE Business West. This specialist Environmental Clinic is held once a month at GWE Business West in Bath, staffed by Envolve’s professional environmental consultants. The one hour sessions are available by prior booking with GWE Business West for a small admin fee of £20 (incl VAT) per session. CHARITY SECTOR OVERVIEW - from the Carbon Trust. Energy saving opportunities for charitable organisations. Produced with the support of the charity commission. this guide looks at low and no-cost ways for charities to reduce their carbon emissions and manage their energy use more effectively. These measures, which can be applied across all types and sizes of organisation can result in significant savings in cost as well as reducing environmental impact. Subjects covered include: lighting, heating and ventilation, building control, catering and general housekeeping as well as offering advice on creating and maintaining awareness. The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has a CD Rom to support groups with Integrated Working. As well as guidance on different aspects of integrated work there are also quick guides in the form of simple fact sheets. Reaching Out Project – providing advice and skilled volunteers. Reaching Out is an England-wide project providing advice and skilled volunteers to faith, rural, black and minority ethnic, and refugee and migrant groups. Writing Effective Press Releases
You must be able to get your main points on one page of A4.  Good press releases are simple – don’t communicate complexity. Good work can be boring – you have no absolute right to media coverage. Is it tempting to an editor deluged with press releases daily?
