Support

B&NES CVS offers support to voluntary and community sector organisations on governance issues, running your trustee board, developing Quality Assurance systems, accessing accountancy advice, model policies, writing a fundraising strategy or a business plan. We also have a library of reference books available for use. A range of resources and books, along with details of community rooms and equipment for hire from voluntary and community groups in the B&NES are listed in our resources section.

Networking & liaison

B&NES CVS works in partnership with other agencies and holds regular local networking meeting and events such as Community Lunches with visiting speakers and Hot Topic Lunches to address issues of specific interest. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please contact us.

Representation

B&NES CVS represents the voluntary sector on the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP); the Local Area Agreement (LAA); the Compact Board; the West of England ChangeUp Consortium (Capacity Builders) and other local and regional partnerships.  We set up, co-ordinate and chair the Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF).  The VSF enables local voluntary sector and community organisations to work together, to address issues of strategic importance affecting the sector, to develop a powerful voice and to get their views represented.  The VSF feeds views to the VCS Steering Group, chaired by B&NES CVS. The VCS Steering Group currently represents the sector on the Local Strategic Partnership.

Strategic partnerships

B&NES CVS work always involves the development of constructive partnerships within the voluntary and community sector and with the statutory sector to ensure the sector's voice is heard at all relevant planning and policy development stages.  Many of these partnerships are involved in representation for the sector (see Representation above).

Development

B&NES CVS works with voluntary and community sector organisations on day to day and long-term issues. We collaborate with other groups and agencies to identify gaps in service provision and support the development of appropriate local services.
